What Do We Know About Ubisoft’s Project U?

Shortly after the game’s initial announcement, a leaked developer video offered a sneak peek at Ubisoft’s Project U. Creative director Damien Kieken explained that “U stands for unite,” emphasizing the necessity of collaboration with other players for success in the game.

The Ubisoft developers invited the public to actively participate in game design through their input in the leaked video, recognizing the crucial role it plays in crafting the best possible version of the game.

Now as for the current development level and progress made, Insider Gaming reports that current gameplay footage features up to 10 teams of four engaged in PvE combat, totaling 40 players. The game offers six characters: Summer, Tau, Z-Rex, Lodestar, Swei, and Gallowglass, and players assume the role of the ‘immune,’ heroic characters seemingly immune to machine forming. The narrative centers around an invasion by “machines” aiming to ‘machineform’ all life.

With two walls in the way, the player must battle their way to the center of the map to complete the current game cycle. It is anticipated that in fifteen to twenty-five minutes, the outer wall gates will open, and in thirty to thirty minutes, the inner wall gates will open to reach the center of the map. Gates open at different intervals, and teams must collaborate to face the formidable ‘Pyraguard,’ a colossal pyramid-like boss armed with various weapons and machines.

Given that the objective of the game loop was to locate a path to the center of the map, Project U was originally known as Project Pathfinder and received positive feedback from the few individuals who have played it recently.

Despite limited information officially released about the game, the revealed art for Project U features a group of armored fighters confronting a mysterious army, adding to the intrigue surrounding this promising co-op shooter.
