It appears that Gears of War 6 will be revealed this summer as several insider reports suggest the same.
Microsoft has hardly mentioned the Gears 5 series in the past five years. However, a promising Gears of War 6 development in January indicated that developer The Coalition was stepping up development on its upcoming title. For Gears fans, this was encouraging news, but the developers still provided no details about the highly awaited game. However, later in the year, that could change as suddenly, three different sources are speculating about a Gears of War 6 reveal this summer.
During a discussion on the Kinda Funny xCast, insider Jeff Grubb mentioned rumors of a Gears of War 6 reveal happening in the summer. The podcast panelists did agree and mentioned, though, that Gears 6 might be the launch title for Xbox’s upcoming console generation, which would mean that the game’s release date is still a few years off. Subsequently, insider Tom Warren supported Grubb’s assertion in a tweet, merely stating that Grubb was “correct.”
Kinda Funny Xcast host Parris Lilly tweeted that she was curious about what Gears 6 might look like in Unreal 5, and she received a response from a Gears developer. Lilly said, “Somebody from The Coalition made a cryptic little subtweet under me about that, which perked my ears on that. So my conspiracy theory is that you do tease it this year, and then it’s probably a launch game for next gen. That seems to make sense to me.”
Adding to this, Jeff Grubb on Lilly’s podcast said: “I will say, I’ve heard some stuff might be happening with Gears 6 this summer, so I think that tease sounds about right to me, Parris. That seems like what we can expect.”
Then, Tom Warren of The Verge confirmed the statement by quoting Grubb in a tweet and stating “Correct.”
Further fueling the excitement, another respected insider, shinobi602, teased on the ResetEra forum that people aren’t ready for what’s in store with Gears. He said, “Wait until you see Gears. People aren’t ready.”
However, despite the growing buzz, there’s still no official word on when the game might be revealed or released. The most likely scenario, though, is that a reveal will take place during the Xbox Summer Showcase in June.
Now while the agreement of several experts on the topic is encouraging for Gears of War 6 lovers, this report remains unverified as of now.
Previously a Gears of War 6 rumor stated that the game is elevating Gears 5’s open-world gameplay to a new level. Shpeshal Nick of the Xbox Era podcast stated that Gears 6 is “almost” completely open world and that the game’s development is progressing a little faster than most people would think.
However, all of these are mere rumors for now till The Coalition officially announces any details on Gears 6.
