Stellar Blade Tops Japan Sales Chart With Almost 70,000 Units Sold

According to reports, with almost 70,000 copies sold, Stellar Blade, a Shift Up-developed title has surpassed all other games in Japan’s sales chart, after making a big splash in the UK, where the game debuted at the top of the All Format Chart.

The reviews for Stellar Blade, the brand-new action game featuring a femme protagonist, have been quite positive, collecting an impressive rating of eighty-two out of a hundred score on Metacritic. And these favorable reviews have likely contributed to increased sales not only in the United States but also in various global markets as the game has sold almost 70,000 copies in Japan, topping the sales charts.

Famitsu, a prominent media outlet, recently unveiled the sales figures for Japan, confirming Stellar Blade’s dominance in the Japanese gaming market. Within a span of under two weeks, from April 22 to May 5, 2024, the game sold a total of 67,131 retail copies, surpassing other notable titles like Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, Endless Ocean Luminous, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

It’s important to note that these sales figures specifically apply to physical copies of the games sold in Japan. There are no digitally solid unit numbers provided.

In addition, Stellar Blade was predicted to sell around a million units in less than a day after its introduction. Sony hasn’t specified or formally validated these sales figures, though.

Physical game sales are declining these days as consumers continue to favor digital games, however, it’s evident that many still like to purchase discs. Stellar Blade‘s strong debut in Japan, is one such example, which may be attributed to its tremendous hype and favorable reviews.
