Sony has begun pushing out a new beta update for the PlayStation 5 that comes with quite a lot of new features to further enhance the gaming experience of its users. From personalized 3D audio profiles for headsets and earbuds, new settings for Remote Play, to adaptive charging for controllers—improvements come in numbers.

PS5 Beta: Personalized 3D Audio Profiles

Perhaps one of the most exciting features added to this new PS5 beta is the ability to create customized, personal 3D audio profiles. This feature will let your PS5 tune into an experienced style of audio suited just to you and your particular hearing characteristics.

Whether it is the Pulse Elite Wireless headset or the Pulse Explore wireless earbuds, their run-through testing for sound quality, based on a variety of factors, will build an audio profile tailored just to carry you into games through the clearest possible positioning of chartering characters and objects, making your gaming experience even more immersive.

To set up your custom 3D audio profile, simply go to Settings > Sound > 3D Audio (Headphones) on your PS5 console and follow the on-screen instructions. Your custom audio profile will be kept per user, though you can always resort back to preset 3D audio options if you desire.

PS5 Beta: Enhanced Remote Play Settings

The new beta for PS5 also adds new settings for Remote Play, which lets you decide who can gain access to your PS5 console remotely.

Basically, now, you’ll be able to adjust all these settings on an individual user basis. For example, if friends or family log in to your PS5 using their own PlayStation Network accounts, you can choose who can remotely access your console with Remote Play when they’re no longer at your location.

To manage these settings, go to Settings > System > Remote Play > Enable Remote Play on your PS5, and select which users you want to allow access.

PS5 Beta: Adaptive Charging for Controllers

The new PS5 beta includes adaptive charging, which is a feature that saves power by dynamically changing the time it provides power to your controller based on the charge level of your battery, for those who run the newest and slimmed-down model. Adaptive charging will work on DualSense, DualSense Edge controllers, PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers, and Access controllers when in rest mode.

To enable adaptive charging, go to Settings > System > Power Saving > Features Available in Rest Mode, and then select Supply Power to USB Ports > Adaptive.

Along with these significant features, this beta also bundles some other enhancements. Recently, Sony updated the PS5 system software, which now allows players to extend an invite to others onto a gaming session with just a URL share and also enables players to use Voice Command in order to view Game Help action cards using the voice command, “Show Game Help.”.

How to Participate in the New PS5 Beta?

Only selected users in the United States, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France can get access to the beta. Those chosen will receive an email invitation when it’s ready to download.

Do note that some of those features launched within the beta could not make it into the ultimate PS5 update, which Sony says it plans to launch globally within the coming months.

Overall, Sony’s new PS5 beta brings a wealth of new features that promise to make your gaming experience more personalized and convenient. From custom 3D audio profiles to improved Remote Play settings and adaptive charging for controllers, there’s a lot to look forward to.

If you’re part of the beta program, be sure to try out these features and give your feedback to help shape the future of the PS5 experience.
