He’s the guy behind legendary characters like Captain Falcon and Fox McCloud, and his work has left a huge impact on gaming.
Recently, Imamura shared his thoughts about the upcoming Switch 2. He thinks Nintendo still has a big surprise waiting.
“The Switch has had a really long lifespan, and it sold really well, which must mean that this is something that is a global success. It’s got supporters all around the world, and I was thinking it would be difficult to really change that. But having said that, I think they’ve still got something up their sleeves.”
This Nintendo veteran knows the company inside and out, and his experience shows. It wouldn’t be surprising if the Switch 2 has some hidden surprises Nintendo hasn’t shared yet. There’s a good chance they’re keeping some cool features or extra content under wraps for now.
Now we don’t know anything for sure, but one exciting thing could be new software features that use the upgraded hardware. The new Joy-Cons are rumored to work like a computer mouse, which could make strategy and simulation games way more fun.

Other Leaks on Switch 2
A few other leaks on Nintendo Switch 2 revealed the following about the console:

- There’s also talk of a brand-new Mario Kart game, and the Joy-Con controllers might snap on with magnets, making them easier to use.
- On the inside, the Switch 2 is said to pack an NVIDIA Tegra T239 chip, making it faster than the current model. It could also come with 12GB of memory—way more than the original’s 4GB—and a bigger battery to keep the fun going longer.
- Some leaks say the new game cartridges might not work on the older Switch, but your old Switch games should still play just fine on the new system.
