Battlefield 6 Gameplay Leak: Early Footage Surfaces After ‘Labs’ Playtests

Fans have been buzzing for months, counting down the days until the next Battlefield game (Battlefield 6) drops.

EA has been super secretive, only letting slip that multiple studios are working on it.

To keep players in the loop, they launched Battlefield Labs, a playtesting program to gather early feedback. But things didn’t go as planned—some recent playtests led to unexpected leaks.

Now, we’ve got our first real look at the gameplay. Let’s dive into what this Battlefield 6 gameplay leak all about.

Battlefield Labs Playtesting Program

Battlefield Labs is EA’s way of letting players help shape the next Battlefield game. Launched in February 2025, this program gives fans early access to pre-alpha versions, where they can test out game mechanics, weapons, maps, and more.

Players can sign up at battlefield.com/labs to join the playtests and share their thoughts on what works and what doesn’t. Right now, only invited players from Europe and North America can take part, but EA plans to bring in more regions soon.

Everyone who joins has to keep things secret by signing a non-disclosure agreement.

Battlefield 6 Gameplay Leak Details

A Twitch user named anto_merguezz streamed footage from the Battlefield 6 playtest, giving everyone a first real look at the game in action. Looks like someone recorded the stream and posted the gameplay online.

In the first clip, a player moves through a match, showing parts of the game’s UI and how post-match results pop up. Here is how it looks like:

The second video gives a better sense of the gameplay, showing how the action plays out and what the overall feel is like.

Meanwhile, it’s hard to say how finished this version is, but EA seems to be fine-tuning the Battlefield experience. From what’s been shown, the gameplay feels like a mix of Battlefield 4 and Battlefield V, with a more grounded, tactical style instead of the all-out chaos of 2042.

That’s great news for fans hoping for a return to classic Battlefield gameplay. On top of that, multiple EA studios are involved in development. DICE is leading the charge, Motive is handling the single-player, and Criterion and Ripple Effect are working on multiplayer and extra content.

Battlefield 6 Gameplay Direction and Setting

Leaks from Battlefield 6 playtesting have highlighted several key changes in the game’s design. The game is set in modern locations like the U.S. and Gibraltar, stepping away from the futuristic world of Battlefield 2042.

One major change is the return of the classic class system, replacing the Specialist system that many players didn’t like.

The game is also moving away from massive 128-player matches, focusing more on tactical and team-based gameplay, bringing back the feel of older Battlefield games.

Speculations on Game Modes

Rumors are swirling that EA might bring a battle royale mode to Battlefield 6, taking advantage of the genre’s hype and their success with Apex Legends.

According to insiders, Ripple Effect, one of the studios working on the game, is developing a free-to-play battle royale, possibly similar to Call of Duty: Warzone. This mode is expected to be standalone, featuring traditional battle royale action along with a unique “Gauntlet” mode, where teams complete missions and the lowest-scoring squad gets knocked out each round.

EA hasn’t confirmed anything yet, so for now, it’s all just speculation.
