Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe Reportedly Gives You Possessing and Controlling Abilities

Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe has been a mystery since its initial tease at the Ubisoft Forward presentation in September 2022. However, now an unreleased internal video has revealed more about the game, which is expected to be the “darkest” title in the series.

Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe Reportedly Gives You Possessing and Controlling Abilities

Codename Hexe is set against the backdrop of the 16th-century witch trials of the Holy Roman Empire, offering a unique setting for the game’s narrative and gameplay mechanics. Insider Gaming reports that players will step into the shoes of a female protagonist named Elsa, attempting to make her way through 16th-century Europe under the rule of the Holy Roman Empire. Moreover, compared to other AC games, the game will focus more on supernatural activities because Elsa has access to several witchcraft powers.

In leaked footage obtained by Insider Gaming, Elsa is depicted stealthily hiding around soldiers resembling Landsknecht, the German mercenaries prevalent during the time. She showcases her supernatural prowess by possessing a cat and using it to create diversions, thus distracting the soldiers. However, whether these abilities stem from actual magic or the Isu’s pseudo-scientific tricks, similar to previous heroes controlling eagles, remains unclear.

While previous entries in the AC series granted temporary immortality to characters like Kassandra, Codename Hexe may take it a step further by giving players genuine supernatural abilities. This prospect of controlling animals and potentially influencing NPCs adds an interesting dimension to gameplay.

Apart from the female protagonist, Insider Gaming suggests that Codename Hexe will offer a more linear experience similar to older Assassin’s Creed titles, moving away from the open-world format of recent entries. Additionally, the next AC game is said to include a mechanism like the “fear” system used in the Jack the Ripper addition for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate (2015).

If leaks are to be believed, Assassin’s Creed Hexe is slated for a 2026 release, overshadowing the anticipation for Assassin’s Creed Red, reported to be arriving later this year. However, as these details come from unconfirmed leaks, it’s wise to take them with a grain of salt, despite the reliability of the source.
