Assassin’s Creed Shadows release date has been changed from November 2025. Now the game will release in February 2025.
Ubisoft has just revealed that their new game, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, won’t be coming out on November 12, 2024, like they originally planned. Instead, they’re pushing the release date to February 14, 2025. Fans, especially those excited about the first Assassin’s Creed game set in Japan, are bummed about the delay. But Ubisoft says the extra time is gonna help them make the game even better.
Here is what we know.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Release Date Has Been Pushed to February 2025
Ubisoft has revealed that the reason to delay Assassin’s Creed Shadows till Feb 2025 has a lot to do with their other game, Star Wars Outlaws. Even though it got good reviews, Star Wars Outlaws didn’t sell as much as they hoped because it had some bugs and glitches. Now, Ubisoft doesn’t want the same thing to happen with the new Assassin’s Creed game, so they’re taking more time to fix things and make sure the game runs smoothly.
Ubisoft said the game is already “feature complete,” which means everything that’s supposed to be in the game is already there. They just need more time for the final touches to make sure it’s perfect.
Another thing that’s changing is there won’t be any early access for people who preordered the game. Everyone will get to play Assassin’s Creed Shadows on the same day. But there’s some good news—anyone who preorders the game will get the first expansion for free. Plus, the game will be available on Steam from the start, which hasn’t always been the case with Ubisoft’s other games as they were only available through Ubisoft’s own platform.
This delay is happening when Ubisoft is already going through a tough period. After Star Wars Outlaws didn’t do as well as they hoped, the company’s stock price went down, and some people are even saying there should be changes in leadership. A small group of investors even wrote to Ubisoft’s board, saying they’re not happy with how things are going. Ubisoft’s CEO, Yves Guillemot, said they delayed the new Assassin’s Creed game partly because of these challenges.
Now, even though waiting until 2025 is a letdown, Ubisoft promises the wait will be worth it. The game is gonna have two main characters, Naoe and Yasuke, each with their own style of gameplay. Ubisoft is really hoping this game will win back the confidence of fans after everything they’ve been through lately.
For now, anyone who preordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows will get a refund, and new preorders will still come with the free expansion. So, fans will just have to wait a little longer to play the first-ever Assassin’s Creed story set in Japan, but Ubisoft assures them that the wait will be worth it.
