The recent financial report from Electronic Arts contained a plethora of information about the publisher’s current situation and status. Players were drawn in, though, by CEO Andrew Wilson’s statement. Wilson, who had the chance to play the upcoming Battlefield game, confirmed to players that it would be “another tremendous live service.”

Wilson confirmed that the largest team in the history of the Battlefield franchise is working on the project and expressed his excitement about what he saw and experienced during his visit to the EA DICE studio.

He said, “This is the largest Battlefield team in franchise history. A few weeks ago, I was visiting with the teams, and I couldn’t be more excited about what they showed and what we were able to play.”

Regarding the progress of the upcoming Battlefield game, Wilson thinks that Battlefield 2042’s journey towards atonement will provide important lessons to EA’s newest shooter. He said, “With each immersive, action-packed season of Battlefield 2042, players have made it clear that they wanted an even deeper experience.”

Wilson went on to say that he is satisfied with the game’s progress and expressed confidence in its success once players get their hands on it. He remarked, “I’ve just spent a whole bunch of time with the collective Battlefield team playing what they’re building, and it is going to be another tremendous live service.”

Currently, the triple-A team comprising Motive, DICE, Criterion, and Ripple Effect is developing the game. While DICE has spearheaded numerous franchise entries, other developers, such as the now-defunct Visceral Games, have stepped in to create overlooked games such as Battlefield Hardline. Wilson emphasized that the current quartet of studios is equipped with cutting-edge Frostbite technology and compelling storytelling and that he “couldn’t be more excited about what they showed and what we were able to play.”

Now, while investors may have approved of such remarks, Wilson’s remarks did not please the players in the least. As can be seen from the reactions on social media, the statements of the CEO of Electronic Arts have undoubtedly disconnected Battlefield enthusiasts from the latest game in the franchise as his statement does not address whether or not the seventh iteration will be a decent game, as some have maliciously pointed out.

Of course, it’s possible that the next Battlefield game will surprise players at launch and that these charges are baseless. It is understandable, nevertheless, that series viewers have taken Wilson’s remarks seriously and are looking forward to information and materials from the upcoming Battlefield game.
