Horizon: Call of the Mountain is an outstanding game and a must-play for fans of Guerrilla Games’ renowned series. Upon its release, Horizon: Call of the Mountain achieved an impressive Metacritic score of 79. The game, developed in collaboration with Firesprite, has left fans eagerly awaiting news of the studio’s next project. Well now it appears that Firesprite will be shifting away from the Horizon franchise, but their next game also seems to be quite exciting.

In recent months, Firesprite, which was recently acquired by Sony and known for titles such as Horizon Call of the Mountain and The Persistence, experienced layoffs due to widespread redundancies at PlayStation Studios. However, within the last 24 hours, the studio has advertised six new job openings for an unannounced game.

As reported by The Gamer, these job listings describe the new project as a “dark, story-driven narrative adventure.” And the available positions for this new game include senior cinematic designer, principal level designer, principal graphics programmer, and head of audio.

Based on the reports, it is a AAA project that promises “photorealistic” environments and characters and is labeled as “highly ambitious.” It aims to push the boundaries of atmosphere, storytelling, player agency, and narrative through the use of next-generation hardware technologies to deliver a “compelling” experience.

While other details are yet to be revealed, the high quality of Firesprite’s previous titles has piqued interest in this ambitious new venture.

But now it is important to note that despite this new ambitious project, all has not been well with the studio. In May, it was revealed that Alex Barnes, the game director for Horizon Call of the Mountain, was laid off after seven years with PlayStation. This occurred just over a year after the launch of Horizon’s first VR title and was part of a significant cost-cutting initiative by SIE, which led to around 900 job cuts.

Additionally, it was reported that the studio has been losing talent due to a toxic work environment, which included excessive crunch periods and allegations of sexual discrimination and ageism.

However, despite these challenges, fans are excited to know how well the new game from Firesprite will be made and how well it will perform.
