First 2024 Nintendo Direct Is Happening on February 21

UPDATE: 20/2/24

This week is when Nintendo will hold its first Nintendo Direct of 2024, the company has revealed.

On Wednesday, February 21 at 6 a.m. PT / 9 a.m. ET / 2 p.m. BST, there will be a “Partner Showcase.” And rather than games Nintendo is actively developing, the event will concentrate on third-party titles that are slated for release in the first half of this year.

ORIGINAL STORY

As we approach 2024, the gaming industry is still buzzing from the flurry of new releases in 2023, including big titles like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Baldur’s Gate 3. The competition is tough for games set to release in 2024. Nintendo fans, however, may not have to wait long for exciting news.

Nintendo typically hosts Directs in February, June, and September. And it’s pretty likely that Nintendo will have a new 2024 Nintendo Direct presentation early in the year. This seems even more certain now, as gaming insider Jeff Grubb has suggested that one is likely to happen next month.

This information comes from a recent Twitch stream by Giant Bomb. During the stream, Grubb mentioned, “You can always count on a Nintendo Direct in February. It is almost certainly going to happen in February, again.

Jeff Grubb has shared interesting Nintendo rumors before, and sometimes they turn out to be true while others don’t. However, as mentioned earlier this latest one seems quite logical because Nintendo has a history of hosting a Direct in February in recent years.

Some say that the February 2024 Nintendo Direct could include:

  • Updates on 2024 games like Peach, Paper Mario TTYD, and Luigi’s Mansion
  • A first look at Metroid Prime 4
  • A reveal of Mario’s newest 3D adventure

Last year’s February Direct was on Feb 8, 2023, so we’re just a little over a month away from the next one.

Also, some predict that Nintendo will announce the Switch 2 by the end of the fiscal year, which is March 31, 2024. Whatever it is, we’re hoping to hear more about the games they have planned for this year soon, maybe in the first 2024 Nintendo Direct.
