Recently, there were reports suggesting that the highly anticipated launch of GTA 6 might face a significant delay due to development setbacks. However, new information from trustworthy sources contradicts these claims, affirming that GTA 6 is still progressing according to its original schedule.
Rockstar Games’ first official GTA 6 trailer, which took us back to the sunny streets of Vice City, gave us a fairly amazing preview of the upcoming Grand Theft Auto game, which is set to release in 2025. But, a few rumors that had been circulating online recently said that GTA 6 might not arrive until the end of 2025 or possibly 2026 because the game’s development was running behind schedule. However, now, according to the latest update from Mike Straw, senior editor at Insider Gaming, shared on X (formerly Twitter), GTA 6 development appears to be progressing as planned.
After contacting “multiple sources” to inquire about the status of the game’s production, Straw claimed to have been informed that everything was “on schedule.” Straw further revealed that any talk regarding the postponement of the game is really “pure conjecture.”
This news comes as a relief to fans, who were already eagerly anticipating the game’s arrival in 2025, and further delays would have surely disappointed the community.
The whole mess began when it was discovered that Rockstar was pushing staff members to come back to work five days a week to prevent production delays. Based on this, insiders suggest a fall 2025 launch date, even though spring 2025 has been listed as an internal aim. However, recent updates indicate that the development is indeed on track.
Additionally, following the GTA 6 leak, concerns were raised about how the breach might affect the game’s ongoing development. Rockstar addressed these concerns in an official statement, assuring players that the hack would not disrupt GTA 6 production or compromise the security of GTA 5 and GTA Online.
The statement read, “At this time, we do not anticipate any disruption to our live game services nor any long-term effect on the development of our ongoing projects […] Our work on the next Grand Theft Auto game will continue as planned and we remain as committed as ever to delivering an experience to you, our players, that truly exceeds your expectations.”
Overall, it’s important to note that delays are common in game development, even for highly anticipated titles like GTA 6, however, for now, the game is on its pre-decided track.
