Half-Life 3 Is Reportedly In Development at Valve, Says Leaker

The Half-Life series has been super popular since Half-Life 2 came out, especially because it ended with a big suspense that left players wanting more. Now, over the years, there have been many rumors but nothing solid came out—until now.

According to some recent leaks from a well-known insider, called “Gabe Follower,” who also leaked info about Valve’s upcoming game Deadlock, Valve is working on Half-Life 3, but it might not be exactly what fans are expecting. This insider claims that the next Half-Life game is real and could be a sequel to Half-Life: Alyx, which is the VR game that came out in 2020.

Unlike the older games, this one is rumored to have a semi-open world with changing weather, a day-night cycle, and smarter NPCs that can interact with players. This more interactive world seems like a big change from the old, straight-path design of the earlier Half-Life games.

The leaker also says that the Source 2 engine, which is used in games like Counter-Strike 2 and Deadlock, is now ready for next-gen games. This could let Valve make more detailed and complex worlds for Half-Life 3.

The leaker even found clues about the new Half-Life game hidden in the files of other Valve games like Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2. For example, they found mentions of something called “HLX,” which is believed to be a secret code name for Half-Life Xen. Other classic Half-Life stuff like the HEV suit and gravity gun were also found, making it look like Valve has been quietly working on this project all along.

There are also leaks saying Valve might be working on not just one but two new Half-Life games. One would be a regular PC game with a keyboard and mouse, featuring Gordon Freeman. The other might be a VR game focused on Alyx Vance.

But fans should not get too excited yet. Valve is known for starting projects and then canceling them before they ever come out. Even if Half-Life 3 is being made, there’s no promise that it will be finished or released soon. But the details and consistency of these leaks give fans more hope than they’ve had in a long time.
