A new campaign in the Halo series is currently in development at 343 Industries, according to recent information. While specific details aren’t available, it’s suggested that the next Halo single-player campaign, different from ongoing work in Infinite, might be several years away from release. Also, this lines up with recent job postings from 343 Industries strongly suggesting that this project is still in its early phases of development.

The latest piece of information on the new campaign in the Halo series was unveiled in the October 15 episode of Seasoned Gaming’s Bitcast.

Corroborating an earlier Bloomberg report, insider sources shared with Seasoned Gaming’s editor-in-chief, Ains, that a dedicated team is actively engaged in crafting the next Halo campaign. Importantly, this new campaign is an integral part of the transition from Slipspace to the Unreal Engine, marking the third time that 343 Industries has opted for a change in the franchise’s underlying engine.

When questioned about the possibility of future story content for Halo, Ains acknowledged that he had no specific details to disclose but confirmed the existence of a new campaign in development.

He went on to state, “What I can say, that I know anyway, is that yes, they do have a team working on the next Halo campaign. It is part of that re-structure that is building the next generation of Halo on Unreal. I don’t know, if I’m a betting man, the earliest I would expect to see another single-player Halo campaign is a couple of years.”

In essence, Ains’ estimate implies that fans should brace themselves for a wait of at least a couple of years before the release of the next Halo single-player campaign, unrelated to the ongoing content in Halo Infinite.

The development of the next generation of games set in the Halo universe was previously confirmed through a job listing on Microsoft’s Careers portal. 343 Industries was actively searching for a Principal Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers to develop the next generation of games and experiences within the Halo universe. The job posting clearly indicated that this ambitious project is currently underway.

These job listings, along with Ains’ insights, strongly suggest that the next Halo game campaign is still in its early development phase. This means fans might have to wait a bit longer for more information and an official announcement from Riot Games.

Halo Infinite Season Five, known as Reckoning, is set to drop on October 17.

Even though we’ll have to wait a bit for a new Halo campaign, fans can still look forward to the anticipated project called Tatanka. This project said to be in development by Certain Affinity, has been buzzing with speculation for more than a year. On top of that, Halo Infinite Season Five, known as Reckoning, is set to drop on October 17.

All this promises exciting new content and experiences to keep the Halo community engaged and satisfied. So, there’s still plenty to be excited about in the world of Halo!
