Dragon’s Dogma 2 Vocations: How to change, and unlock new ones, and their costs

Dragon’s Dogma 2, a sequel to the hit RPG, takes place in a different universe from its predecessor and offers several new and old elements. At the very beginning of the game, players will have to make difficult choices, one of which is choosing which character class, or vocation, to start with. However, considering the variety of vocations available and how each caters to different needs, players are free to mix things up.

Here, in our guide, we will detail how to change Dragon’s Dogma 2 vocations, unlock the new ones, and their costs.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Vocations Guilds

In Dragon’s Dogma 2, the first two or three hours of the game are spent locking you into one of the four beginning vocations: Fighter, Thief, Mage, or Archer. You can switch your vocations once you get to Vernworth by visiting the local vocations Guilds, where you can also acquire new vocations linked to strong new play styles and skills. To begin, just engage with the Vocation Guild NPC and choose “Change Vocation.”

The following guilds are present in the region’s largest cities, villages, and even some inns:

  • Melve Inn (North)
  • Vernworth Vocation Guild
  • Bakbattahl Vocation Guild

Simply interact with the Vocation Guild NPC and choose “Change Vocation” to begin.

How to Change Dragon’s Dogma 2 Vocations?

To change your vocation, locate a guild or inn where this can be done. Enter the guild and speak with the NPC inside. You’ll see the option for Vocation Guild. Selecting this will present you with the choice to Change Vocation. Opting for this will allow you to switch your vocation.

To elaborate, when you get to Vernworth, look for the Vernworth Vocation Guild, which is located south of the town center, directly beneath Shakir’s Inn. Enter the guild and approach Klaus behind the counter. He’ll discuss a number of topics with you, the first of which is how to change Dragon’s Dogma 2 Vocations. To switch to one of the other three initial vocations, select the “change vocation” option from the menu.

How to Unlock New Dragon’s Dogma 2 Vocations?

To unlock vocations beyond the initial four, you’ll need to spend Discipline Points (DP) acquired from defeating enemies and completing quests.

Advanced vocations like Warrior, Sorcerer, or Trickster have additional prerequisites. You may need to fulfill specific quests or interact with unique NPCs before unlocking and equipping them. Unlocking a new Dragon’s Dogma 2 Vocation incurs an initial DP cost:

  • Starting Vocations: 100 DP
  • Advanced Vocations: 150 DP
  • Hybrid Vocations: 200+ DP

After each Dragon’s Dogma 2 Vocation has been unlocked, you can freely and affordably swap between them. In addition, you’ll need to pay the cost for your main pawn and yourself. However, as you gain DSP for every opponent you defeat, you should have an abundance of points from natural adventure.

After you decide on a different Dragon’s Dogma 2 Vocation, Klaus will equip you with some entry-level gear appropriate for your new class and send you on your way. You can switch to a different Dragon’s Dogma 2 Vocation by going back to Klaus or any other Vocation Guild on the map.

Remember that your calling and vocation don’t have to be permanent when you venture farther into the cursed realms and encounter ever-more-twisted monstrosities. Your ability to choose a different course is only a Vocation Guild away.

Well, each Dragon’s Dogma 2 vocation has its strengths and weaknesses, making some more effective against certain enemies than others. Hence, switching your vocation can help bridge the gaps in your or your party’s weaknesses. Furthermore, some vocations have associated achievements in Dragon’s Dogma 2 that you can earn simply by selecting them.

Although remaining in your original vocation choice is completely optional and has no real repercussions, there are advantages to occasionally switching things up.
