New PlayStation Title in Development with Competitive Multiplayer Focus

PlayStation is working on a new multiplayer game with live-service features, built for competition and esports.

A recent job posting for a UX/UI Design Lead gives us a peek at its focus on multiplayer gameplay and live-service elements. This shows PlayStation’s dedication to growing in the competitive gaming world.

With this new project, we could see exciting changes in how PlayStation approaches online gaming.

Discovery of the Unannounced Project

Reddit users were quick to notice a new job listing from an unknown studio, sparking all kinds of theories about what game it might be for. Most people think it could be a multiplayer fighting game, but honestly, it could be anything at this stage.

One thing’s for sure—it’s going to be a live-service multiplayer game. The listing even mentions plans for an esports scene. But here’s the thing: you can’t just make a competitive gaming community overnight. That kind of thing has to grow naturally, not be forced.

The listing also mentions that the game will be available on PC, console, and mobile, and it’s being developed using Unreal Engine. Since the job describes taking the project from prototype to production, it’s probably still in the early stages of development.

Some people think this might be Jason Blundell’s new game. Back in 2023, there were rumors that he had joined a new PlayStation studio in Los Angeles, and it’s been suggested that he’s working on something similar to what’s described in the listing.

If the job had been based in LA, that theory would make even more sense. But since it’s a remote position, there’s no solid proof.
