Nintendo might be getting ready to launch a better version of their Pro Controller for the upcoming Switch 2. Thanks to a new FCC filing, we now have clues about what the Switch 2 Pro Controller upgrades could be.

Here is all that we know.

What the FCC Filing Revealed about Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller Upgrade?

The big clue comes from a document filed with the FCC in late March 2025. In that document, Nintendo used the model number BEE-008 for a game controller that uses Bluetooth. That sounds a lot like a new Pro Controller, especially since it has the same kind of wireless connection as the original Switch Pro Controller. But this one might come with some cool improvements.

The biggest change found in the filing is that this new controller could include a headphone jack. The original Pro Controller didn’t have one, which made it hard for players who wanted to plug in their headphones directly.

The filing also mentions NFC support, which is already in the current Pro Controller. So it looks like the new one will still support Amiibo figures and other similar features.

Furthermore, the new filing suggests that the controller might come with a new battery design. While the FCC documents don’t go into details, the mention of a different battery and backplate shows that Nintendo could be trying to make the controller last longer or charge faster.

Well, adding a headphone jack might not sound like a big deal, but for many players, it really is. Other controllers, like the PlayStation DualSense and Xbox Wireless Controller, already let players plug in headphones. If Nintendo adds that to the Switch 2 Pro Controller, it would help the Switch catch up and make gaming more comfortable.

People in online communities like Reddit and Famiboards are excited about the idea of a better Pro Controller. Some fans have said that the current Pro Controller is great for handheld mode but needs better features for TV play or serious gaming.

Fans are also guessing that Nintendo might show off these upgrades soon. Some think they’ll talk about it during the next big announcement or Nintendo Direct for the Switch 2.

Other Claims about Switch 2 Dock Using Realtek Chip

Apart from above, according to a trusted post on the Famiboards forum, the Switch 2’s dock might use a Realtek RTD2175N-CG chip. This chip helps convert DisplayPort 1.4 to HDMI 2.1, which basically means it can handle 4K video at 60 frames per second.

The exact chip isn’t listed on Realtek’s website yet, but it seems like an upgraded version of the RTD2173, which already supports 4K, 8K, HDR, and even 7.1 channel audio. So yeah, the Switch 2 might have some pretty solid video output!

All in all, even though Nintendo hasn’t officially said anything, the FCC filing and leaks gives us a pretty good idea of what’s coming.
