According to well-known insider Dusk Golem, also known as AestheticGamer, the development of Capcom’s rumored Resident Evil 5 remake is on track, despite recent rumors suggesting that racial concerns had impacted its progress.

Recently, Dusk Golem, who has a solid reputation for providing accurate insights on Capcom’s projects, took to Twitter/X to talk about the recent rumors on RE 5 Remake. He specifically targeted claims that Capcom USA had paused the development of the RE5 Remake due to racial controversies surrounding the original game, as well as talked about allegations that the source code for Resident Evil 5 had been lost in the 2011 tsunami.
“I don’t believe the rumor in big part since I know for a fact that several parts of it are wrong,” Dusk Golem stated. He clarified that the claims about Capcom losing source code in the tsunami are false. Moreover, he emphasized that the idea of Capcom USA having a significant influence on the development of the remake due to racial concerns is also incorrect.
Well, Resident Evil 5 has had a controversial reception within the gaming community. The game was released in 2009, and since its release it has been criticized for its action-heavy gameplay and its depiction of African culture.
Several fans have pointed that the game portrayed African people in a problematic manner, even before they turned into zombies. Some also speculated that the inclusion of Sheva, a character of African descent, was a token gesture to mitigate these criticisms.
