The Silent Hill 2 Remake development update has recently been shared by the Bloober Team, however, the new statement doesn’t seem satisfactory to many fans.
Bloober Team recently addressed concerns about the progress of the Silent Hill 2 Remake, acknowledging fans’ frustrations over the lack of updates about this highly anticipated title. The studio took to X (formerly Twitter) to reassure fans that the game’s development is proceeding smoothly according to their internal schedule. However, they also clarified that the responsibility for sharing specific details about the game lies with Konami, the publisher.
In their statement on X, the Bloober Team expressed pride in their role within Konami’s plans for the Silent Hill franchise. They highlighted their dedication to delivering a top-notch Silent Hill 2 remake in collaboration with their partner. The team emphasized that development is on track and assured fans eagerly awaiting news that updates will come when Konami decides to release more information.
The statement from Bloober Team on X says, “As Bloober Team, we are proud to be a part of Konami’s plans for the Silent Hill franchise. Alongside our partner, we are diligently working to ensure the Silent Hill 2 remake attains the highest quality. On behalf of our development team, we would like to clarify that the production is progressing smoothly and in accordance with our schedule. We understand that many players around the world are eagerly anticipating news about the game, and we appreciate your dedication.”
They further stated, “However, we kindly ask for a bit more patience. Once Konami, as the game’s publisher, shares more information, we are confident that the wait will be worthwhile.”
The company said that “communication” is obviously part of Konami’s duty when asked about the absence of communication since the official announcement last year.
Well, Bloober is essentially stating that Konami, as the publisher, makes all of the decisions. This implies that Konami, not Bloober, will decide whether or not to notify fans of developments about the Silent Hill 2 remake. Naturally, Konami paid Bloober to create the game, and they are also in charge of its marketing and promotion. To be honest, it is pointless for Bloober to have to clarify that the game is still being worked on despite allegations that it was canceled.
However, the message seemed to generate mixed reactions among fans. Some interpreted the format—a white text on a black background—as similar to a standard developer apology post. This fueled speculation among certain segments of the gaming community about the game’s development status, with concerns about it possibly being stuck in “development hell.”
While some fans supported Bloober Team, others directed criticism towards Konami for the perceived lack of marketing and updates regarding the Silent Hill 2 Remake.
The announcement of Silent Hill 2’s remake for the PS5 and PC was made more than a year ago, and we still don’t have more details or a release date for the remake, and Bloober Team and publisher Konami have remained quite silent since then.
Previously, the Chief Marketing Officer of the Bloober Team, Anna Jasińska, has indicated that the title will stay true to the original game’s story canon, but with some changes made in specific locations. However, there is still no release date announcement. Rest assured, we’ll keep you informed as soon as new information about the Silent Hill 2 Remake surfaces.
