A recent leak has pointed toward March 21, 2024, being the potential Silent Hill 2 Remake release date.
Players have been eagerly waiting for the Silent Hill 2 Remake. The development of the game is in its final stages, and a recent update on Steam suggests that its release is drawing near. The game is now open for pre-orders (though Konami has yet to confirm the details) and one website has pointed towards March 21, 2024, being the potential Silent Hill 2 Remake release date.
This info comes from the website PCGameBenchmark and was further pointed out by @RetroToHero on X (formerly Twitter).
As noted on Twitter, the site initially stated that Silent Hill 2 Remake would be available on March 21. However, after gaining attention from fans, the site altered the Silent Hill 2 Remake release date to an arbitrary date of September 24, 2001.
Surely nothing but a site indicates March 21, 2024 as a release date for Silent Hill 2 Remake.

Not your usual placeholder, right?
Random website, but updated yesterday amidst all the pre-orders going live… some thin possibility of a genuine slip up?https://t.co/w8rd4qa03U pic.twitter.com/J6iEYgMBY2
Fans have differing opinions on the credibility of this particular release date. Some are cautious, while others point out parallels to other major game launches. While many dates currently listed are just temporary placeholders, Silent Hill 2 Remake doesn’t have this same date across all websites. So, it wouldn’t be surprising if it turned out to be accurate.
While this doesn’t definitively confirm the Silent Hill 2 Remake release date, Bloober Team and Konami are in the final stages of development. Therefore, a March release window appears quite plausible. It’s also worth noting that the voice actor for James has mentioned that Silent Hill 2 Remake is aiming for an early 2024 release, so, March 21 date seems likely.
If this leak turns out to be true, Konami might be gearing up to reveal the remake at The Game Awards in December. Fortunately, there’s not much time left until The Game Awards. This event is scheduled for December 7, 2023, so fans should mark their calendars.
Best Buy listing for Silent Hill 2 Remake hints at a new “origin story” to play through.
In addition to the Silent Hill 2 Remake release date, there was another leak two days ago involving a Best Buy pre-order listing for SH2R. It mentioned a “new Pyramid Head origin story by Bloober Team.” In the additional information section, the listing outlined:
- Take on the role of James Sunderland as he makes his way through the horrifying town of Silent Hill as he’s hunted by terrifying creatures, all while trying to uncover the truth of a dark mystery
- Enjoy the experience of playing through a seminal horror game, all with modern graphics, exclusively on your PlayStation
- Fan favourite character, Pyramid Head, makes a return along with a special origin story for fans to play through
- Silent Hill 2 for PlayStation 5 is produced by Konami and developed by Bloober Team, in collaboration with Akira Yamaoka and Masahiro Ito.
While most fans are disappointed and scared for the future of the game, a few are hopeful. One fan stated, “That wouldn’t make it particularly special, though. I guess maybe in the sense that not everyone that played the original got to play that too.“
It’s been more than two decades since the debut of the original Silent Hill 2, a game that holds a revered status in the horror genre. This has led to high anticipation for the Silent Hill 2 Remake Release Date announcement.
The original Silent Hill 2 was released by Team Silent and Konami in 2001 for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC. This sequel continued to revolve around the fictional ghost town but introduced a new protagonist, James Sunderland, who arrived in Silent Hill in search of his late wife.
