Stellar Blade’s Multiplayer Mode and Split-Screen Discovered in the Files

Summary

  • Modders discover hidden multiplayer and split-screen elements in Stellar Blade’s PC game files.
  • Files show hints of a canceled PvP mode and local co-op possibilities.
  • Shift Up has not officially confirmed any future multiplayer plans yet.

Stellar Blade’s Multiplayer Secrets Uncovered

Stellar Blade’s upcoming PC launch has sparked a lot of excitement, and modders are already diving deep into the game’s files. What they’ve found is fascinating!

Modder Somnus from the Ludens group uncovered hidden references to multiplayer modes, including both online and local split-screen play. While Stellar Blade has been a strictly single-player game on PS5, these discoveries suggest that Shift Up once had bigger plans for multiplayer action.

According to Stellar Blade Brasil, Somnus shared footage showing two Eve characters appearing on screen, with the display surprisingly splitting into two, just like a local co-op setup. This raises the question: did Shift Up test out split-screen co-op? Additionally, Somnus revealed several in-game files labeled with “MultiPlay” and even a “game over” screen that mentions “Back to Single Player,” hinting at a canceled online multiplayer or PvP mode.

What Does This Mean for the Future?

For now, these multiplayer features are not part of the official game, and there’s no word from Shift Up about bringing them back. Somnus clarified that the split-screen seen in modded demos was a basic Unreal Engine function, not something custom-built by the developers.

Still, the presence of so many multiplayer-related assets suggests that at some point, Stellar Blade might have been designed for more than just solo adventures.

With Stellar Blade 2 already rumored to be in the works and the PC release promising a bigger audience, fans are left wondering: could multiplayer make a surprise return in future updates or sequels?

For now, the discoveries give players a fun peek behind the scenes — and maybe, just maybe, a hint of what’s still to come.
