Unseen Nintendo Switch Games Emerge from Development Kit Leak

A big Nintendo leak just came out, and it shows videos of games we’ve never seen before. Some of The Nintendo Switch Games were canceled, like one from Retro Studios and an early version of a Ridge Racer game.

The leak was found on a Nintendo Switch dev kit, which is something game makers use to test games. This gives us a cool peek into what Nintendo was working on behind the scenes.

Some of these games never made it past the planning stage, which makes it all the more interesting to see what could have been.

Let’s take a closer look at the details of these findings.

Details of Nintendo Switch Games Leak

A recent Nintendo leak has revealed footage of several unreleased games, including a cancelled project by Retro Studios and a Ridge Racer prototype.

The leak was shared on Reddit and comes from a Nintendo Switch development kit. It includes different early versions of games such as:

  • Debug builds of Splatoon 2
  • The game Rime
  • A cancelled Lego Civilization game
  • An unreleased Ridge Racer prototype
  • A scrapped Retro Studios project called Project Harmony
  • A debug version of Arms

Unreleased Ridge Racer Prototype

A recent new leak just showed off an unreleased Ridge Racer game that was being made by Bandai Namco Studios in Singapore. It was built using Unreal Engine 4 and found on a Nintendo Switch dev kit.

Along with this, there were also test versions of Splatoon 2, Arms, and some other games that never came out. Even though this Ridge Racer project was worked on back in 2017, no one knew about it until now.

The game was never officially announced, and there’s still no word on why it got canceled.

Retro Studios’ Project Harmony

Back in January, YouTuber Reece “Kiwi Talkz” Reilly had chats with a bunch of developers who used to work at Retro Studios. During those interviews, it was revealed that the studio was actually working on a music-based game named Harmony. This was happening in the time between Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and Metroid Prime Remastered.

It had a red-haired, fairy-like girl as the main character. She used a magic staff to call creatures, like a flying fish that helped her soar through the air.

The amazing part was that she could sing to move things and solve puzzles. People say Retro was trying to make a music-style RPG back then.

The game took a long time to make but kept running into problems. In the end, Nintendo canceled it. Some reports called it “a huge disaster” that was “going nowhere.”

Both of the above builds (The Ridge Racer, and Project Harmony) are said to be from 2017, even though the projects were never officially announced.
