8% of developers in a GDC survey say they’re working on Nintendo’s next console

8% of developers in a recent GDC survey revealed they’re working on games for Nintendo’s next console.

1. 32% of developers surveyed expressed that Nintendo’s next console is the platform that most interests them, trailing only behind PlayStation 5 (41%) and PC (62%).

As the Nintendo Switch successor is yet to be officially announced, developers working on games for it are doing so under strict secrecy.

Nintendo’s Switch successor is widely expected to launch this year, causing Nintendo shares to hit a record high earlier this month.

Last summer, VGC reported that development kits for ‘Switch 2’ were in the hands of key partner studios, with a launch expected in late 2024.

Dr. Serkan Toto, CEO of Tokyo-based game industry consultancy Kantan Games, recently predicted that the new console could launch at $400, potentially adopting the $70 game pricing of PS5 and Xbox Series X.
