Italy has invited tech billionaires Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg to have a modern-day gladiator fight at Rome's Colosseum.
Elon Musk initially challenged Mark Zuckerberg to a fight, and Zuckerberg responded by asking for a date, generating excitement worldwide.
The Italian Minister of Culture reached out to Musk and Zuckerberg, proposing the Colosseum as the venue for their fight.
Both Musk and Zuckerberg expressed interest in the idea and relayed the message to Dana White, the President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
The Colosseum, a 2000-year-old landmark and one of the seven wonders of the world, has not hosted a major event in centuries and can only accommodate a few hundred spectators in temporary seating.
Although the Italian government denied offering the venue, Musk fueled speculation by tweeting about the possibility of the fight taking place at the Colosseum.
Musk further increased the hype by quoting a line from the movie Gladiator, suggesting the fight's significance.
