GTA Trilogy Boosts Netflix Downloads: A Mobile Gaming Revolution

Netflix’s mobile game downloads have surged due to the addition of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy. The three remasters were downloaded 18 million times in their first month.

The remasters were made available to Netflix members on December 14. Players can download and play the games as part of their Netflix subscription without any extra charges.

This addition led to a sharp increase in monthly game downloads. Netflix’s monthly game downloads rose from 10 million in November 2023 to 28 million in December 2023.

GTA San Andreas is the most popular of the three games, with 11.6 million downloads. GTA Vice City and GTA III have 4.1 million and 2.4 million downloads respectively.

Netflix plans to add mobile games based on its hit properties including Squid Game and Wednesday, and is exploring games based on Extraction, Black Mirror, and its Sherlock Holmes series.

Netflix began offering mobile games through its app in late 2021 and is expanding into higher-end games that can be streamed from TVs or PCs. It launched a cloud gaming service in limited beta form in August.
