Take-Two Interactive has filed a trademark dispute against Remedy Entertainment over their logo, claiming it is similar to the Rockstar Games logo.
The opposition first began in September 2023, addressing two variations of the Remedy logo.
The dispute was first reported by Respawnfirst, whose reporter @usemyhandle posted their findings from the Intellectual Property Office on Twitter.
Take-Two Interactive owns both 2K and Rockstar Games, known for games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and the Grand Theft Auto series. Remedy Entertainment first made a name for itself with the Max Payne series and is now recognized for the Alan Wake series.
Both creative teams are iconic in their own right, and it seems unlikely that fans would confuse these two over the letter ‘R’ alone. The logo dispute is divisive among fans, who note that Remedy Entertainment’s logo doesn’t feature Rockstar’s iconic star symbol.
At this time, it seems likely that Remedy Entertainment and Take-Two will resolve the trademark dispute sooner than later. Remedy Entertainment even reached an agreement with Rockstar Games in 2022 regarding remakes of Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne.
