Sony CEO Hints at Upcoming Live-Action Legend of Zelda Movie

After the success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, a live-action film adaptation of The Legend of Zelda was confirmed last year, exciting fans worldwide.

The project is a collaboration between Nintendo and Sony Pictures. Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida teased at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show that the film will be “an amazing tale of adventure and discovery.”

Plot details and casting for the movie are yet to be confirmed. Rumors suggest Tom Holland for Link and Hunter Schafer for Zelda. The film will be directed by Wes Ball and produced by Avi Arad.

Nintendo game director Shigeru Miyamoto has been working on the film with Avi Arad for many years. The development of the film has officially started with Nintendo heavily involved in the production.

Reports indicate that an animated adaptation of the franchise is also in the works, although details are currently unknown.

Director Wes Ball expressed his desire to see a live-action Miyazaki, hinting at the whimsical and adventurous approach he plans to take for the live-action Zelda movie.
