The PlayStation 5 Pro’s Anticipated Launch in 2024

Sony is reportedly planning to launch a PlayStation 5 Pro console in late 2024, according to multiple sources.

Giant Bomb reporter Jeff Grubb has corroborated claims that Sony is working on a mid-gen PS5 upgrade, which is likely to be released in September 2024.

The PS5 Pro will support Sony’s own proprietary DLSS-like solution, using machine learning to improve images for high resolution and frame rate gaming.

The PS5 Pro will include hardware for Sony’s DLSS-like solution and 2x hardware ray tracing acceleration, promising better performance than just improved hardware ray tracing.

Legal documents published by Xbox maker Microsoft suggest that they were expecting Sony to release PS5 Slim and Pro consoles in the near future.

Sony aims to ship 25 million PS5 consoles during its current fiscal year ending in March 2024, potentially breaking a 25-year-old console sales record.
