Overwatch 2 Sombra Rework
The process of updating Sombra started when the Director of Overwatch 2, Aaron Keller, confirmed the changes on August 6. People were really looking forward to it. But, we didn’t know much about what exactly was going to happen. Now, we’ve got a sneak peek into what the upcoming Overwatch 2 Sombra Rework will be like.
In a tweet from the official Overwatch account, the developers shared a short video of Sombra using her new abilities with the message, “Sombra’s bringing a Virus to the battlefield.” It’s a bit mysterious, but it gives us a taste of what’s coming.

The most interesting thing is Sombra’s new “Virus” ability. She shoots a “Virus” at enemies, which seems to hurt them over time. The video shows Reinhardt getting affected for a few seconds. We’re not sure if it’s easy to aim or how it will work with Sombra’s other powers.
There’s also a change to Sombra’s Stealth ability. When she’s invisible, there seems to be a certain area around her. If an enemy gets too close, it might make Sombra visible again. We’re not sure if you can still reveal Sombra by hitting her, though. This adds a new twist to playing as or against Overwatch 2 Sombra.
Overwatch 2 Season 7 Reworks
Apart from the recent teaser on the OW2 Sombra rework, Blizzard devs also talked about these upcoming reworks in their recent blog post. It was revealed that Sombra’s unique playstyle, particularly her Translocator ability, has presented balancing challenges. Meanwhile, Roadhog has faced criticism for his powerful chain hook ability, which enables deadly combos. As a response, reworks are planned for OW2 Season 7 to refine the gameplay experience of these heroes.
The aims of OW2 Sombra’s rework include making her engagements more committal, intensifying the active feel throughout her kit, and preserving her existing hacker identity and playstyle.
In Roadhog’s case, his current abilities like ‘Chain Hook’ and ‘Take A Breather’ will be retained after the rework. Additionally, a new ability (details undisclosed) will be introduced to his kit. The goals of Roadhog’s rework are to enhance his team protection capabilities, maintain his overall playstyle, and redistribute his power to reduce reliance on one-shot potential.
The developers plan to share more in-depth information on the changes to Sombra and Roadhog in the coming weeks, including insights into each character’s new ability.
Remember, none of these changes have been officially explained for Overwatch 2 Season 7 yet. So, it’s best to be cautiously optimistic until we get more details. But it’s clear that Overwatch 2 Sombra’s Rework is going to make her gameplay really interesting and fun in the new season.
