A reliable source has suggested that the first State of Play livestream in 2024 would take place in just a couple of weeks.
All three major gaming companies are gearing up for digital events soon. And new rumors have revealed that Sony might have a new State of Play 2024 Livestream in the next few weeks, where they could showcase upcoming PS5 exclusives like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Rise of the Ronin.
Jeff Grubb, a journalist from Giant Bomb, shared his insights on the upcoming months following Microsoft’s announcement of a new Developer Direct for the next week. According to him, Sony is expected to have a State of Play livestream in the next few weeks, and the traditional Nintendo Direct in February is also anticipated.
During the Giant Bomb podcast, he claimed with confidence that, “There is a State of Play coming. When exactly, I’m not sure. But I would expect it in the next few weeks.”
Now, this next State of Play 2024 Livestream might happen as early as late January or early February. However, it is plausible that it might happen before Suicide Squad’s release on February 2, 2024, as other major titles will also be released soon after it. Helldivers 2 is set to release on February 8, 2024, and Skull & Bones is scheduled for release on February 16, 2024.
Also, the last State of Play was in September last year, revealing the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth release date, Resident Evil 4 DLC Separate Ways, and a Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 trailer. If Sony follows the same pattern, expect one or two big announcements alongside smaller news updates.
The next State of Play 2024 livestream might highlight the PS5 exclusives like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Rise of the Ronin. Also, since Sony typically supports announced titles with third-party partnerships, and Pacific Drive is set for release next month, it could be one such addition.
Naturally, Sony has not yet verified this information. Having said that, it is probably going to occur because Grubb is a dependable and trustworthy source for information regarding presentations.
