GTA VI is reportedly scheduled for release by March 2025, based on Take-Two’s financial projection.
Rockstar Games is gearing up for the release of GTA VI, their highly anticipated open-world action-adventure game. According to Take-Two’s financial forecast, the game is slated to hit the market between January and March of 2025. Take-Two, the owner of Rockstar, recently revised its guidance for the next fiscal year (FY25, which spans from April 2024 to March 2025), maintaining an ambitious $8 billion revenue forecast for the fiscal year.
The analysts, Nick McKay and Michael Pachter, in a research note titled ‘$7 Billion Means No GTA in FY:25,’ expressed their belief that GTA VI might have shifted out of FY:25, aligning with their earlier predictions. The management’s indication that next year’s bookings would exceed $7 billion, significantly lower than the initial projections in May, raised doubts about the release of GTA VI in the upcoming fiscal year. While the drop in projections doesn’t confirm a delay beyond calendar 2025, there’s speculation that the launch might be pushed to a later date within that year.
They said, “The drop makes us almost certain that GTA VI will not be releasing next FY. With that said, we have no reason to believe the game has slipped out of calendar 2025, but it is reasonable to assume that it will launch later in the year.”
Furthermore, during a discussion about the decision-making process behind releasing a game like GTA VI, Take-Two Interactive Inc. CEO Strauss Zelnick emphasized that Rockstar Games is “seeking perfection” and that the game will be released when it feels it has “optimized creatively.”
He also reassured investors that everyone is in this together and that there is financial motivation for both the development team and upper management to see to it that the game is produced on schedule. He claimed that although Rockstar Games err on the side of excellence, there may be an intrinsic contradiction between bringing something to market and achieving perfection.
Moreover, responding to another investor, Zelnick highlighted that the anticipation for GTA VI surpasses that of its predecessor, GTA V.
Well, the first official trailer for the game was released in December and it garnered over 90 million views within 24 hours. And it is anticipated that Lucia and her male partner will be members of a criminal couple. Currently, GTA 6 is scheduled for release on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms in 2025.
