Xbox next-gen consoles have been a part of the rumor mill for a long, but recently during the February 2024 Xbox Podcast, Microsoft dropped a hint about its dedication to developing groundbreaking next-generation Xbox consoles. Now, adding to this a new report reveals that Microsoft is developing its next-generation console at “full speed ahead.”
Xbox Is Moving ‘Full Speed Ahead’ On Its Next-Gen Console Reveals New Report
In an email to Xbox staff that Windows Central was able to receive, Xbox President Sarah Bond stated that the team is “moving full speed ahead” on the upcoming next-gen Xbox console.
Reiterating remarks made in February when the console’s existence was formally confirmed, Bond stated, “We are moving full speed ahead on our next generation hardware, focused on delivering the biggest technological leap ever in a generation.”
Bond’s mention of the “biggest technological leap” line echoes discussions from the recent Xbox business update podcast. In that podcast, Bond, along with CEO Phil Spencer and Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty, spilled the beans on everything that Team Green has planned ahead.
Further in the email, Bond highlighted Xbox’s intention to use Microsoft’s AI innovations. She stated, “We are innovating in Gaming AI, focused on delivering player-first, developer-first value for discovery, engagement, and creator velocity.”
While specific details about the hardware itself or its release date were not disclosed, leaked documents from 2023 hinted at Microsoft’s plans to unveil the next-gen Xbox in 2028. In any case, given Microsoft’s apparent focus on its development, it should be ready sooner rather than later.
What’s certain is that the upcoming next-gen Xbox console is poised to be a technical marvel. Additionally, we now know that Xbox is developing the necessary hardware to support the greatest Xbox titles of the future.
The full email reads:
It’s been nearly six months since we came together as an organization. Our collective achievements in that timeframe are tremendous. Everyone should feel incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved and excited about the opportunities ahead.
We are moving full speed ahead on our next generation hardware, focused on delivering the biggest technological leap ever in a generation.
We are innovating in Gaming AI, focused on delivering player-first, developer-first value for discovery, engagement, and creator velocity.
Well, irrespective of how the next-gen Xbox turns out, it’s encouraging that Microsoft is moving forward with it at a great pace.
