Former League of Legends coach and Cambridge University medical student, Lorcan Elliott, has been sentenced to four years and eight months in prison for multiple sexual offenses involving children.

The 25-year-old admitted to committing 22 offenses, which included making and distributing indecent images of children, inciting minors to engage in sexual activities, and having inappropriate communication with them. Authorities also found 604 indecent images of children in his possession.

The crimes were committed between January 2022 and May 2023, and involved more than 15 victims aged between 13 and 15 years old. Police began their investigation after they were alerted by an online image that led them to Elliott.

The judge in the case, Philip Grey, condemned Elliott’s actions as “foul online behavior” that every parent fears their child might encounter online. The judge noted how Elliott exploited his knowledge, saying, “No parent really knows what their child is doing online. You, and other sexual predators like you, know that and take advantage.” The judge further mentioned that Elliott’s crimes were “extremely grave” and highlighted that Elliott, despite being on the verge of qualifying as a doctor, was unfit to practice medicine due to his inability to control his sexual urges towards children.

Elliott’s offenses have also led to him being added to the sex offender register, and he has been banned from working in any capacity that involves children in the future. The former coach has expressed remorse and has sought counseling to address his behavior, but the damage caused by his actions remains significant. His lawyer, Henry Oghoetuoma, told the court that Elliott was “sincerely sorry” for his actions and recognized that his crimes were not “victimless.”

Elliott was a notable figure in the League of Legends esports scene, coaching several teams over the years, including Nuclear Storm, London Esports, and NVision Esports. He moved up to more prominent roles, serving as an analyst and coach for Giants Academy and later for FlyQuest’s Academy and Challengers teams. However, his promising career in esports was cut short in November 2023 when he left FlyQuest, months before the charges against him were made public.

The competitive League of Legends community reacted strongly to the news, expressing their shock and condemnation. Many people who had interacted with him, such as Jake ‘DonJake’ Morley, co-owner of a British League team, and Michael ‘Veteran’ Archer, an analyst and streamer, shared their disbelief over Elliott’s actions. They noted that Elliott had been a part of the LoL esports scene for a long time, and many had worked with him or known him personally. Veteran remarked on social media, “This happened, almost everybody in the UK scene has had contact with him at some point.”

Initially, Elliott was sentenced to seven years in prison, but his sentence was reduced due to having no prior convictions. Despite the reduced sentence, the former coach has been barred from any future employment in industries that involve children, and his name has been permanently added to the sex offender list.
