Waiting for the Silent Hill 2 Remake reviews to know whether the game is actually good? Well the good news is that the first reviews are already out.
Over two decades after its initial release in 2001, the Silent Hill 2 remake is in sight. Already, the first reviews have started to pour in. The major takeaway is that completing the game will take around 16 to 18 hours.
One of the first Silent Hill 2 remake reviews comes from the Japanese video game magazine Famitsu. In this week’s issue, the Silent Hill 2 remake was given a score of 35/40, with a distribution of 8/9/9/9 over four categories. Interestingly, this is a little higher than what the same magazine awarded the original game over two decades ago, 32/40.
We’ll list the salient points of the Famitsu review here. First, the graphics are seriously real and beautiful, as is the necessary sense of dread. The Japanese dubbing is great and serves to connect you more to the story rather than being a nuisance.
The battles now have the added component of evasion, which adds to the richness of the gameplay experience. The characters have been overhauled and the puzzles have been taken up a notch in difficulty.
The Silent Hill 2 remake has been more than 20 years in the making so some scenes have a flag-setting feel to them. However, the graphical realism and gameplay more than came up for it. The amount of time needed to complete this game is almost double that of the initial game.
The Silent Hill remake is releasing on PC and PlayStation 5 on October 8, 2024. However, it is too early to overlook other gaming platforms as the developers Bloober Team announced last month that this game will be a PS5 exclusive only until October 8, 2025, after that, we can expect it to launch on platforms like Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
