Bloober Team, known for their work on the upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake and Blair Witch, recently inked a licensing deal with Skybound Entertainment, the creators behind Telltale’s The Walking Dead and the award-winning Before Your Eyes.

This deal involves Bloober Team developing a new game under the codename “R,” based on a Skybound intellectual property (IP). Set for a 2025 release, this project marks Bloober’s venture into a fresh horror-based IP, applying their expertise in the genre to this new endeavor.

Piotr Babieno, the president of Bloober, emphasized that the collaboration aims beyond financial gain, viewing it as a strategic move to meet their objectives by 2027. Piotr Babieno stated that “these are not titles that are intended to give us only financial profit, but are further steps in achieving our strategy by the end of 2027.”

The two sides simply stated that the title is expected to be released in 2025, without going into any further detail.

Specific info about the game, including which Skybound IP it will be based on or which Skybound entity will be dealing with this new IP remains undisclosed. Babieno highlighted the project as part of their second-party strategy, where Bloober collaborates with external partners, lending their expertise in horror.

“This project is the next step in the 2nd party strategy, where we work with external partners to provide them with our horror know-how,” Bloobers CEO Piotr Babieno remarked in response to the news of the new endeavor.

Given that Bloober’s remake of Silent Hill 2 still lacks an official release date and that the company clarified earlier this year that it wasn’t “ready for release,” a 2025 revelation would not come as a huge surprise. Also, it’s expected that the new game from Bloober Team and Skybound may launch on platforms like PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, although official platform details are yet to be revealed.

For those unaware, among the most well-known titles produced by Skybound Entertainment include “The Walking Dead,” “Invincible,” “Dead Body Road,” “Thief of Thieves,” and “Witch Doctor.” Whereas Bloober Team is known for popular titles like “Layers of Fear,” “The Medium,” and the highly anticipated “Silent Hill 2 Remake”. Hence, it will be exciting to see how this new “Codename R” IP turns out.
