Rockstar Games faced a troublesome Christmas Day with the Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5) source code making its way onto the internet, providing hackers and other users access to the game’s programming code. This leak, a 4.5 GB file, is believed to contain the game’s programming code, obtained from a hack dating back to 2022 but only now surfacing online. It’s being circulated in private chat groups on Discord and Telegram via TOR links.

Now, recent revelations suggest that this leaked GTA 5 source code was sold for a shockingly low price of just $2,000. Leaked messages indicate that a modding group bought the code, hoping to resell it for up to $6,000 to make a profit. However, after realizing that no one would purchase it from them even after lowering the price, a member of the group changed their mind and opted to leak the code instead of continuing attempts to sell it.

Reactions to this move were mixed with some confronting the leaker about the problems the leak might cause. However, TMP, the alleged person responsible for the leak seemed unconcerned stating, “I’ll just leak it fully then dude. No half measures then.”

The GTA 5 Source code was purchased in a group buy among the modding community for $2000, involving users like Austinator Modz, XBL Dragonfly, TMP, and SecretSauce. TMP, also known as TickleMePickles, received the codes for free as he contributed no money to the purchase. However, he attempted to sell the code for $6000 and later offered it for lower prices on Discord. However, frustrated by the unsuccessful attempts to make money, TMP leaked the GTA V codes online to prevent others from benefiting from the trading.

At present, the authenticity of these leaked private messages remains unverified, so it’s wise to approach this report cautiously, treating it as a rumor until further confirmation.

For those unaware, the leaked GTA 5 source code contains sensitive game files, showcasing early GTA 5 maps, scripts, and even intriguing but discarded content. Notably, it also hints at Project Americas, seemingly confirming it as the codename for GTA 6. Additionally, a code snippet from GTA 6 has surfaced online, offering a glimpse into the upcoming title, recently unveiled in a new trailer.

Within the 4.5 GB source code, eight unreleased DLCs were mentioned, among them is a potentially Manhunt-themed DLC and the integration of Liberty City into the base GTA 5 game. The list of these leaked unannounced DLCs for GTA 5 includes:

  • Assassination Pack
  • Manhunt Pack
  • Norman Pack
  • Agent Trevor DLC
  • Relationship Pack
  • Enterprise Pack
  • Prologue DLC
  • LibertyV DLC

The recent leak of GTA 5 Source code also exposed employee information, particularly 1158 employee email addresses. However, it doesn’t seem like any personal or sensitive personal data was involved—only work email addresses appear to have been impacted.
