New theories suggest that 1st April 2025 could be a possible GTA 6 release date.
The day GTA 6 fans worldwide have been eagerly awaiting—the trailer release—is almost here, and the excitement surrounding this is evident. Rockstar Games has officially revealed the exact day and time of GTA VI’s trailer release, which is December 5 at 9:00 am ET. However, it’s been claimed that this date was hinted at a while back.
GTA Online dropped a mysterious shirt named “One Day Will Reveal All” a few months ago having a series of numbers on it. Among them was “1252309” which gets decoded to (12-5-23 at 9 AM), perfectly matching the supposed release date and time for GTA 6’s debut trailer.
The East Coast time that the GTA 6 trailer will air is indicated by the first string of numerals, which is even followed by the number ’09’. These days, it seems like fan theories rarely ever work, but in this instance, speculations about a GTA 6 teaser based on a t-shirt was accurate.
Now, according to the same theory, the GTA 6 release date might be April 1, 2025, as there is another noteworthy sequence on the same shirt “040125”, which translates to April 1, 2025.
Well, this isn’t the first time a release date has been mentioned on a GTA shirt, as back in 2022, an image that appeared in the newswire showcased the release date of GTA 5 (9.17.2013) & the day Rockstar Games was founded (12.24.98) on the character’s shirt!
But hold your horses; this is simply a theory that should be taken with a huge grain of salt, as there are many setbacks of this GTA 6 release date (04-01-25) as well. First, launching a game, especially a high-profile one like GTA, on April Fool’s Day—let alone on a Monday—seems quite unlikely. Second, this date doesn’t quite align with the fiscal year in which TakeTwo, the parent company, has hinted at “record” levels of revenue for the company.
For those unaware, reports from Bloomberg suggest that a GTA 6 announcement could be on the horizon, ahead of Rockstar Games’ 25th-anniversary trailer, aligning with Take-Two Interactive’s fiscal 2025 plans for significant growth and record-breaking financial performance, largely driven by the new game. The company anticipates surpassing $8 billion in net bookings and $1 billion in cash flow.
According to the company, “active development for the next entry” is “well underway” and it plans to start its “next phase of growth in fiscal 2025.” GTA 6 is without a doubt the title that will enable Take-Two to reach their goal of “over $8 billion in net bookings and over $1 billion in adjusted unrestricted operating cashflow,” however this might change in the future.
While delays in game releases are common, for now, the target remains in the next fiscal year, somewhere between April 2024 and March 2025. So, even if there are hints at April 1st, 2025 being the GTA 6 release date, it might be more of a placeholder than a set-in-stone date. Rockstar could be implying, “We don’t know the exact date yet, but we have April 1st, 2025, in our minds.”
In addition to this, speculation from GTA forums and Rockstar insiders hints at a potential GTA 6 launch by the holiday of 2024, although there have been previous delays. There’s a discussion about potential cuts for DLC releases to meet deadlines. Furthermore, leaks suggest the game is possibly two years away from release, set in a Vice City-style Miami and featuring a Latin female protagonist, expected to elevate the franchise’s status among crime games.
So, while the idea of GTA 6 dropping on April 1st, 2025, is interesting, it might not be entirely accurate. Rockstar probably has an internal release date in mind (which could indeed be 04-01-25), but it’s unlikely they’d announce such a specific date this early. To be honest, even if they hint at a vague 2025 or Spring 2025 release, a delay wouldn’t be surprising given the scale of a Grand Theft Auto launch.
