Helldivers 2 has constantly been on the news since its release and has been regarded as one of the must-have co-op games on PS5. But for Xbox gamers, the question of whether it will ever land on their console has been lingering. Despite having a devoted and active community with a steady player base, Helldivers 2 has yet to make its debut on Xbox consoles. However, that seemingly is about to change.
Helldivers 2 In Early Discussions To Release On Xbox Suggests New Rumor
In the latest episode of The XboxEra Podcast, during the ‘The Rumourmill’ segment, it was mentioned that there is a possibility of Helldivers 2 joining Xbox Game Pass. Nick hinted at the potential for this move, especially with the recent change in leadership at PlayStation, where Hiroki Totoki stepped in as the new interim CEO.
Nick speculates that PlayStation may be a little more open to investigating multiplatform strategies, but also cautioned listeners to take this information cautiously as the discussions were still in their early stages and it’s possible that both these companies might not agree to the terms.
Nick said, “We know that PlayStation has a new CEO at the moment, and I think the new CEO might be more open to certain things. And what I’ve heard is that there may be some very, very early, preliminary discussions about the possiblity of Helldivers 2 coming to Xbox.”
While this rumor should be taken with a sizable grain of salt, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Arrowhead’s popular shooter make its way to Xbox eventually as such a move would greatly expand the game’s community and introduce it to a whole new audience of gamers.
As a game heavily reliant on its player base, Helldivers 2 will benefit significantly from branching out to new platforms and enhancing its crossplay capabilities. Moreover, it would not be shocking if Sony made this decision given PlayStation’s recent moves into publishing titles for PC and even launching the annual MLB game on multiple platforms, including Xbox.
However, fans must manage their expectations and understand that nothing is set in stone as nobody guarantees anything.
