The KOTOR remake has remained mysterious ever since it was first announced, mostly because of Embracer’s incapacity. In November 2023, after a lengthy period of “please don’t ask us about KOTOR,” Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier revealed that the project was still underway. However, with the news of Saber Interactive parting ways with Embracer Group, concerns arose regarding the fate of the game. Fortunately, Saber Interactive’s CEO, Matthew Karch, has confirmed to IGN that the Knights of the Old Republic Remake is indeed still in the works.

Karch said, “It’s clear and it’s obvious that we’re working on this. It’s been in the press numerous times. What I will say is that the game is alive and well, and we’re dedicated to making sure we exceed consumer expectations.”

Well, this indeed is a big relief for the fans, as the game has seen quite a lot of downs during its development process.

Initially, reports suggested indefinite delays for Knights of the Old Republic Remake following a disastrous internal demo, leading to the dismissal of key personnel. Subsequently, there were concerns that it had been completely canceled since Sony was allegedly erasing all online evidence of it; however, the PlayStation manufacturers later clarified that this was because of expired music licensing. Not long after, conflicting reports emerged, indicating uncertainty about which studio was overseeing the development of the Knights of the Old Republic remake.

According to reports, the KOTOR remake seems to have transitioned smoothly to Saber’s new ownership, avoiding the fate of many projects under Embracer. It’s reported that Saber and Embracer will collaborate on the game, providing a glimmer of hope for its future.

Overall, we can only hope that there will be more news to share about one of the most anticipated future titles, Knights of the Old Republic Remake, as the latest update is extremely positive news for the fans.
