Ridley Scott's Napoleon has stormed the global box office, amassing an estimated $21M worldwide, exceeding initial projections.
The action epic, a collaboration between Apple Original Films and Sony Pictures, is on track for a remarkable five-day global opening, with a projected $40M from the international box office.
Launching in eight overseas markets on Wednesday, including France and the UK, Napoleon expanded to 40 more markets on Thursday, securing the top spot in all release markets
The weekend will cover 85% of the international footprint, with Spain and others joining the roster. Anticipated releases in China and Japan on December 1 and Korea on December 6 will contribute to the film's global success.
Notable performances include the UK ($1.75M), France ($1.74M), Germany ($530K), Australia ($493K), Italy ($447K), and Mexico ($424K), with mature European markets expected to lead.
Despite a modest AlloCiné score of 2.9, Napoleon is off to a strong start in France. Ridley Scott, responding to criticism, expressed confidence in the film, stating, "The French don't even like themselves.
