Will FIFA 23 be free-to-play?
A rumor that has persisted since the time of the launch of FIFA 22 is that EA Sports plans on making FIFA 23 a free-to-play title, the first one in its series. Donk, a Twitter account dedicated to FIFA 22 news, posted a tweet stating that FIFA 23 will be both free-to-play and cross-platform.
Needless to say, EA has said nothing related to this tweet and as this tweet was posted a long time back, in July 2021, it may no longer hold. The starting point of this rumor was when a free-to-play title called UFL was announced, to possibly act as the rival of the juggernaut franchise.
Leaked FIFA 23 cross-platform play
Tom Henderson, one of the most commonly mentioned names in the video game leaks industry, reported that EA Sports will apply full cross-platform gameplay in FIFA 23. On February 28 of this year, Henderson published a series of plans that had been leaked about the upcoming launch of FIFA 23.
Before, not even players having the consoles in the same families – like Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 – could play together. But this time in FIFA 23, there will be full cross-platform play allowed.
This means that it wouldn’t matter what console or system you are on. If you can play the game, you can play the game together with your friends. And this has never been done before, so if the FIFA 23 cross-platform turns out to be true, it would signal big changes in the way of operating of the Ultimate Team market and Pro Club.

Along these same lines, another tweet by the famous FIFA leaker Fut Sheriff discussed a leak on March 23, 2022. This tweet stated that “Cross-play will be tested in FIFA 22. Probably won’t be on Ultimate Team, but is def coming in FIFA 23!”
Donk again came onto the scene to corroborate this claim by Fut Sheriff. He said that the testing will commence as early as the launch of FIFA 22 and the aim is to have it fully operating in FIFA 23.
World Cup 2022 in FIFA 23?
The previous year, EA included new women’s team options for the famous team mode Pro Clubs, and more inclusive content will probably launch with FIFA 23, it seems.
Going by the reports, FIFA Women’s World Cup 2022 comes to the scene in the next game. So that means that there will be fresh and exclusive content for everybody. The appearances here are in the dark for now. More details could come out in time as EA Play is probably going to be announced in the Summer.

FIFA 23 Online Career Mode
Rumors about an Online Career Mode in FIFA have always been there, though they’ve always remained that way, never materialized. This time, however, could be different. Sometime around the launch of FIFA 22, there was a new hope found in the job listings of EA.
DexertoFC, a huge video games-related news website, posted a tweet that reported the EA job posting of an Online Software Engineer. And this posting had interesting job descriptions.
This job description went something like this: “As an Online Software Engineer, you’ll contribute to the creation of our networked play team, whether it’s in our online Career Mode, ultimate team, or core online systems and protocols. We’re searching for engineers that appreciate prototyping and planning, as well as introducing incredible new features to an already popular game and upgrading existing code.”

But unfortunately, Online Career Mode was never realized in FIFA 22. And this also added the possibility of a title after this. And now that that title is soon to launch, we hope that this possibility come true this time.
More information from FIFA 23 leaks and rumors will be coming up soon, so keep your eyes peeled, as EA might be releasing the game in October 2022. So keep looking and keep hoping.
