Respawn is reportedly working on a new first-person Star Wars Mandalorian game which is currently in its early stages of development.
Considering how immensely popular the Star Wars series has been throughout the years, it is hardly surprising that there are more than 100 video games centered in this universe. After the release of Jedi: Survivor in 2023, Respawn Entertainment seems to be developing a new first-person Star Wars Mandalorian game.
Tom Henderson, a renowned industry insider, has hinted at Respawn Entertainment, the developer behind Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, working on a single-player Star Wars experience that fans have long awaited. Responding to a fan’s frustration over EA not developing Star Wars Battlefield III, Henderson stated, “No, but Respawn is cooking a Star Wars single-player experience I think a lot of people have wanted for a long time.”
While many anticipate Respawn’s involvement in a third Star Wars Jedi game, Henderson’s tease suggests something different. Corroborating on the leak reports from Insider Gaming reveal that this first-person Star Wars Mandalorian game is in its early stages of development. It has been reported that players will assume the role of a Mandalorian bounty hunter during the Galactic Empire’s dominance in the galaxy. The game’s objective involves capturing bounties—dead or alive—in exchange for monetary rewards.
Furthermore, contrary to expectations, the game will feature linear stages set on several different Star Wars planets rather than an open world. Described as “very fast-paced,” the game will reward players who adopt an aggressive playstyle, with health regeneration tied to successive kills. The player will be equipped with an extensive array of weapons and gadgets as they take on the role of a Mandalorian bounty hunter, and these gadgets include a grapple hook, wrist rocket, visor, and more.
It was previously disclosed that “mobility” and “style” are serving as the main pillars of Respawn’s next project. The Mandalorian’s jetpack, which enables the player to execute horizontal dashing, vertical jumping, boost sliding, and other movements, is what makes the game’s great mobility conceivable from a storytelling perspective.
Although there is currently no other information available, we should soon have more details on this forthcoming single-player Star Wars Mandalorian game by Respawn as it was stated that it will likely be released within the next year or two. However, at this point, it’s unknown whether or not the game will support multiplayer.
In addition to the recently launched Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, EA has previously revealed that the developer is developing a first-person shooter set in the Star Wars world and the third game will be a strategy game. So, we can expect to hear more news on this new FPS Star Wars game soon.
