In a recent Twitter post, while thanking Christian Gyrling for his hard work, Naughty Dog revealed that the recently appointed Head of Technology will be leaving the Studio after an amazing 17-year career.

The post stated, “Our head of technology Christian Gyrling has decided to leave Naughty Dog after an amazing 17-year career at our studio. We’re grateful for his many contributions to the studio, our games, and his teammates. We will miss Christian greatly and wish him the best of luck on where his path leads next.”

Now, Travis Mcintosh, a 19-year veteran at the company has been allotted the role of Head of Technology at Naughty Dog Studios.

Back in July 2023, Naughty Dog’s Co-President Evan Wells announced his retirement from the studio, and the company went through all new promotions and updates around studio leadership.

That was exactly when Neil Druckmann announced Christian Gyrling (who was vice president at that time) as the new Head of Technology claiming he will continue to push us to new heights in innovation and technical solutions. Now, he has become the second well-known exit from one of Sony’s largest first-party studios.

It hasn’t been long since Evan Wells announced his retirement and the series of people leaving the studio afterward is raising many questions in fans’ minds. A few are claiming that something bad seems to be going on at ND specifically and SIE in general. Whereas a few suggest that this was decided for Christian Gyrling and this allows everyone to come out looking good.

Gyrling began working at Naughty Dog in 2006 as a programmer and advanced to the position of lead in the department by 2017. He was then given the role of developer’s vice president from 2020 until early this year.

In addition to Naughty Dog, he held positions at WMS Gaming Inc. (2001-2003) and High Moon Studios (2004-2006). Now, fans are excited to know Gyrling’s future endeavors and the games he will work on in the future.
