A new Pokemon Presents digital event with exciting news for the fans has been announced, scheduled for next week on Tuesday, February 27th, at 2 pm UK time and 9 am Eastern time.
The Pokémon Company has revealed that “exciting news” will be revealed during a digital event that takes place the following week. On Tuesday, February 27 at 6 a.m. PT / 9 a.m. ET / 2 p.m. GMT, Pokemon Presents will take place. The event would include “exciting Pokémon news in celebration of Pokemon Day 2024,” according to a tweet from the official Pokémon account on X.
The last significant Pokémon game, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet saw its release in November 2022. The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, a two-part DLC expansion pass, was then released in September 2023 and December 2023, respectively, as a follow-up to this. Additionally on January 11, the DLC’s last epilogue—which included the arrival of Pecharunt, a new legendary Pokémon—was made available.
However, given the absence of information on Game Freak’s next major Pokémon project, it is suggested that we might see some new announcements during the Pokemon Presents event next week. While it might seem too early for a new generation of Pokémon, considering the recent release of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet in 2022, it appears probable that some sort of game announcement is on the horizon within the next 12 months.
Also, there’s a rumor circulating, originating from a source known as Zippo, who has demonstrated reliability in the past but also occasional inaccuracies. The rumor suggests that there will be two new mainline Pokémon titles released this year. The ambiguity lies in whether “two” implies a standard dual mainline release, similar to Scarlet and Violet or Sword and Shield, or if it includes one of these, plus an additional game.
Furthermore, another anonymous leaker, Pyoro, known for a commendable track record, hints at a potential Game Freak announcement during the upcoming Nintendo Direct this month. While this event is labeled as a partner showcase, and traditionally Pokémon gets its own Nintendo Direct, there is a possibility that the announcement could be related to Pokémon.
The possibilities are diverse. There could be another remake game, Black and White for the DS following the release of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Alternatively, it might be a new Johto game, possibly a sequel to Let’s Go Pikachu. However, all this is a mystery, and naturally, the only way to find out is to tune in to Pokemon Presents next week.
