In the midst of awards, speeches, and performances, the show features trailers for all kinds of video game releases – new games, updates, DLCs, hardware, merchandise, and accessories. Monster Hunter Wilds, Coming 2025

Capcom just announced a new game called Monster Hunter Wilds at The Game Awards in 2023. It’s coming out in 2025 and you can play it on PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X|S.

In the trailer they showed us, there are animals you can ride in the sky, a big desert place, and, of course, really big monsters. This is the first time they’re making a new Monster Hunter game since Monster Hunter World in 2018.

Xbox Project, OD

Hideo Kojima, a famous game creator, just showed off his new OD (Overdose) game on Xbox at The Game Awards 2023. The game is a mix of psychological thriller and horror, and it’s designed to feel like you’re in a movie.

Jordan Peele is also working on this game with Kojima. They’ve got some cool actors like Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer, and Udo Kier on board. It’s not just a regular game; they’re making it into something much bigger.

Kojima Productions and Xbox Game Studios teamed up to announce OD officially at the awards. Kojima mentioned, “I like trying new things. With the help of Xbox Game Studios and their Cloud Gaming technology, we’re making something special.

God of War Ragnarok DLC, Out Next Week

A new addition to the God of War game called Valhalla is coming out on December 12, 2023. This extra content, also known as DLC, can be downloaded on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles.

Valhalla is like a different way to play the game. It’s called a roguelike mode, and it uses the combat style from the main game, Ragnarok, to give players new and tougher challenges. The DLC story happens after you finish the main game.

Marvel’s Blade

Arkane Studios, the developers who made Dishonored and Deathloop, shared exciting news at The Game Awards 2023. They’re creating a new game called Marvel’s Blade, and it’s happening in their French studio in Lyon. This game is all about action and adventure, where you play as Blade in a third-person view.

In the announcement, they showed a short movie-like trailer, but we didn’t get a peek at the actual gameplay or when it was coming out.

Blade is a character from Marvel Comics, made in 1973 by Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan. You might have caught a glimpse of him at the end of the Eternals movie in 2021. And guess what? There’s a whole movie about Blade, starring Mahershala Ali, set to hit theaters on November 7, 2025.

SEGA’s Five New Games, including Jet Set Radio

Sega is bringing back some old favorite games. They’re making new ones for Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, and Crazy Taxi. A video at The Game Awards showed a sneak peek, and Geoff Keighley, the host, said we’ll have to wait a bit before we can play them all – maybe a few years.

The games are getting a makeover with a more realistic art style, and some of them will have changes in how you play. Streets of Rage and Golden Axe are now in a 3D world. Sega also hinted that there are more surprise games in the works. The list they shared is just the start of bringing back old favorites.

The Finals Is Available Now

The Finals is a new game that you can play for free. It’s a shooting game where teams compete against each other. It came out on December 7, 2023, during The Game Awards. You can play it on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, but not on the Nintendo Switch.

Hello Games’ Light No Fire

Ten years ago, at an event called the Spike Video Game Awards, a company called Hello Games got a lot of attention by announcing a big and exciting game called No Man’s Sky. Now, in 2023, at The Game Awards, they’ve done it again with a new game called Light No Fire. This time, instead of having many planets to explore, the game focuses on just one incredibly detailed world.

The game is a fantasy multiplayer survival RPG that takes place on a huge, detailed planet. It’s set to be released for PC.

Sean Murray from Hello Games says they’ve been working on this game for the past five years with a small team. He calls it “the first real open-world” because there are no limits, and it also lets you play with others online. In the trailer, it looked like the game has things like crafting, mining, and even the ability to ride flying creatures.

Final Fantasy 16 DLC

At The Game Awards 2023, Square Enix shared exciting news about Final Fantasy 16. They revealed two additional story content packs:

  • Echoes of the Fallen: This expansion is already available for purchase since the announcement.
  • The Rising Tide: The second expansion is set to be released in Spring 2024.

You can buy each DLC separately or get both by purchasing a Season Pass.

The first DLC for the game, “Echoes of the Fallen,” has a new story that happens before the final battle. The whole group is working together to investigate strange crystals. In this DLC, Clive can use the iconic Buster sword from Final Fantasy VII and earn a chiptune version of a song from FFXVI. It’s available now.

The second DLC, “The Rising Tide,” fixes a mistake in FFXVI by including the eikon Leviathan, a water dragon, which was missing from the main game. In this DLC, Clive can finally fight the water dragon. It’s set to be released in spring 2024.

Rise of the Ronin, March 2024 Release Date

Rise of the Ronin was revealed at The Game Awards 2023, and it’s coming out on March 22, 2024, but only for PlayStation 5. The folks who made it are called Team Ninja, and it’s an open-world action role-playing game, kind of like their other games.

In the game, you get to be a Ronin, a lone warrior, and you’re helping to shape the future of Japan, which is a country divided into different parts. Starting on December 14, 2023, you can pre-order the game on the PlayStation Store. If you do that, you’ll get some special stuff like the Iga Ninja’s Katana and Armor set, plus four different Combat Styles to use in the game.

Skull and Bones Release Date

Ubisoft just shared some news at The Game Awards 2023. They said the game Skull and Bones will finally come out on February 16, 2024. It took a bit longer than expected because they had to delay it six times.

Skull and Bones is a cool game where you can be a pirate with your friends. You can try the game before it officially comes out in a closed beta from December 15 to 18. If you get the special edition or use Ubisoft+, you can start playing three days before everyone else. 

Lost Records: Bloom and Rage

Don’t Nod, the creators of Life is Strange, announced a new game called Lost Records: Bloom and Rage at the 2023 Game Awards. This narrative adventure game is set to come out in late 2024 and will be playable on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.

Lost Records: Bloom and Rage is the first game in the Lost Records universe. It’s like a choose-your-own-adventure where you decide what happens. The game takes you on a story-filled journey through time. The story and characters in the game are similar to the popular TV show Yellowjackets, with parallel timelines and parts where you play as the characters when they were teens and adults.

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero

A new Dragon Ball game called “Dragon Ball Sparking Zero” was released at The Game Awards 2023. Before, people knew it as “Budokai 4.” You can watch the video on YouTube. This game is the newest one in the Budokai Tenkaichi series. It keeps the same style of play as the series before but makes it better.

No Rest for the Wicked

The next game from the creators of Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps is called “No Rest for the Wicked.” It’s a game where you play a character in a made-up kingdom in the year 841. The story is about a king who dies, and this causes a big fight among people who want to be the new king. At the same time, a sickness spreads on an island called Sacra. In the game, you have to fight weird and scary creatures and also an army that is trying to take over.

The trailer for the game showed a really pretty world with lots of things to fight and treasures to discover. The game will first be available on PC through early access in the first part of 2024, and later it will be released on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.

Tales of Kenzera: Zau, Coming April 23, 2024

The trailer of Tales of Kenzera: ZAU was revealed during The Game Awards 2023. The preview has music made by the talented composer Nainita Desai. The person who introduced the trailer is Abubakar Salim, an actor known for being in Raised by Wolves and Assassin’s Creed: Origins.

Tales of Kenzera: ZAU is a game where you move from one side of the screen to the other, doing actions and stuff. Abubakar Salim made this game with his new game-making company. It will come out on April 23, 2024, and you can play it on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

Black Myth: WuKong

At The Game Awards 2023, they shared exciting news about the game everyone has been waiting for, Black Myth: Wukong. This cool role-playing game (RPG) is set to come out on August 20, 2024, and you can play it on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Black Myth: Wukong is all about Chinese stories and legends. In the game, you become the Destined One, someone special who has to discover the truth behind an amazing legend.

Final Word

The Game Awards 2023 also announced some new games like Arcknights: Endfield, The Matchless Kungfu, Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, Assassin’s Creed Nexus, and Harmonium The Musical.

Also, Baldur’s Gate 3 was chosen as the best game of the year. It competed with other games like Alan Wake 2, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Resident Evil 4, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The people who made the game, Larian Studio, got six awards, including the best game and five other prizes.
