Walt Disney Reportedly Hacked With Almost 1TB of Data Stolen

The news about Disney being hacked first appeared on social media and an X (formerly Twitter) user named Pirat_Nation reported that hackers called NullBulge had stolen over 1 terabyte of data.

This post revealed that NullBulge tried to share the data on 4chan, but it was quickly taken down. As per the reports, the stolen data might include secret Disney projects, concept art, login details, personal info, raw images, source code, and possible links to internal websites.

The hackers say they got into Disney’s internal Slack, a communication platform, to do the hack. According to their website, NullBulge claims to protect artists’ interests and targets big companies they accuse of using AI for art, promoting cryptocurrency, or stealing from artists. They say their hacks are to punish those who exploit artists and to promote a fair ecosystem for creators.

NullBulge claims to have accessed Disney’s internal Slack, a popular communication platform, to carry out the hack. According to their website, NullBulge aims to protect artists’ interests worldwide. They target high-profile entities they accuse of using AI to generate artwork, promote cryptocurrency, or steal from artists. The group claims their hacks are meant to punish those who exploit artists and promote a fair and sustainable ecosystem for creators.

Disney, Disney hack, Disney breach

Now if this is true, this hack could reveal many secret Disney projects and sensitive information.

How Did The Disney Breach Happen?

Pirat_Nation thinks the hack happened because of an internal mistake. They mention an employee named Matt Van Andel, who supposedly downloaded something that let the hackers get in into Disney’s files.

Disney hasn’t said anything about the hack yet, and without their comment, we don’t know how bad the breach is or what Disney is doing to fix it. However, this isn’t the first time Disney has faced security issues. In June, Disney was hacked by Club Penguin users, and in 2019, Disney+ accounts were compromised.

If this hack is true, it’s another big security problem in the entertainment industry, like what happened to Rockstar Games and Insomniac Games. And the unfortunate part is that these breaches not only reveal company secrets but also make customers and partners lose trust.

But it’s best we wait for Disney to reveal the level of breach so that we have a clear picture of the matter.
