How to Open the Starfield Map?

Starmap

The Starmap is like a Starfield Map that helps you find your way in space. You can open it in different ways depending on whether you’re playing on a computer, a game console, or inside your spaceship. Here’s how to open the Starmap:

To see the Starfield map on your computer:

  • Quickly press the ‘M’ key.
  • Or, if you prefer, open the game menu by pressing the ‘ESC’ key, then click on the ‘Starmap’ tab.

On your game console:

  • For PlayStation, open the map by pressing the ‘Touchpad’ button.
  • For Xbox, access the map by pressing the ‘View’ button, which looks like two squares.

On Ship:

When you’re on your spaceship, go to the control panel or navigation table. Use it to turn on the Starmap. This special version of the Starmap gives you extra details and helps you plan your travel between different star systems.

Surface Map

When you’re on a planet in the game, the Surface Map is the tool you use to figure out where things are like interesting places, stuff you can collect, and what you’re supposed to do. Here’s how to open this Starfield Map:

  • After you’ve landed, get your Scanner ready. To do this, press the special button they tell you to press (usually ‘Q’ on a computer, ‘L1’ on PlayStation, or ‘LB’ on Xbox).
  • Look through the menu that pops up and pick the ‘Surface Map’ option. That’s it.

Direct way to open Starfield Map

Sometimes, when you’re doing certain tasks in the game, you might see a special icon at the bottom of your screen. If you click on this icon, it will take you directly to the map you need for that task, like the big map of space or a map of the surface. This makes it easier and faster to find your way without having to search around in the map menu.
